Minecraft Avdentures

I find myself playing Minecraft for hours on end. Either mindlessly mining for materials, or building large structures high atop mountains. It all started when I succumbed to the curiosity sparked by conversations I head on podcast. I looked up the game on YouTube, and stumbled on a Let’s Player I’ve forgotten the name of, but soon came across Quickshot14, a long time player of Minecraft with a vision and a lack of design, as he confessed to many times. His structures were grand and sophisticated, and his commentary was genuinely entertaining. Watching him play was a joy, but it seems he has taken a hiatus to take care of matters in the real world.

It wasn’t long until I reached Wolv21’s region of YouTube (the actual reason I’m doing voice commentary with my LP’s now), along with Coestar and Etho. Hundreds upon hundreds of hours of gameplay videos later, I was finally sold, and purchased the game to play it myself, and have my own adventures.

I’ve been playing Minecraft for a few months now. I started off just randomly wandering around, surveying the landscape with an inventory of smooth and cobblestone, looking for good places to build random structures. Towers, temples and alters littered the landscape, each recorded with a rough sketch of the finished product and the graphical coordinates of each structure through F3, and stone markers leading back to my main spawn.

I became enamored with mapping out the landscape, marking each landmark I left behind. Once I found enough sugar cane, and made a few compasses, I began mapping out the land in detail. I made a few of my own maps on paper to link the in-game maps together. When I came across a new biome, I marked the boarder of a new country, creating a new and unique architecture for each region, utilizing the block types unique to the biomes.

Some countries had older looking structures, taking inspiration from the Forbidden Land from Shadow of the Colossus, using motifs of colonnades and high ceilings. Some countries had technology, where I made contraptions using red stone and buttons. I continued to abide to these design rules until I came to my current base of operations. Now I am less strict and openly build whatever I want.
Using videos from Coestar and Ethoslab as reference, I’ve built more sophisticated contraptions like mob spawners, along with some designs of my own like automatic farms.

Here is my current base, a city that I am still underway building on top of a mountain that I have linked to naturally created floating islands. It’s a crazy place, as one wrong step while building can send you plummeting to the ground hundreds of blocks bellow! In the city I have a multi-storied automatic farm complex featuring an all automatic wheat farm, mushroom farm, tree farm, cactus farm, and sugarcane farm. I plan to add a passive mob spawning floor, but judging from what Etho accomplished, it may be a larger undertaking than I plan to take on.

I plane to link all the floating islands together to create a huge city with all the bare necessities that will allow me to be self sufficient without having to go back to ground level. I plane to do periodical updates on my adventures in Minecraft on this blog, and possibly post some videos on the channel.

500 SUBSCRIBERS!

In honor of my 500th subscriber, I return to an old favorite game, to play it a little differently!

When I uploaded the first video of Drakan back in 2006, I never imagined I would have 500 subscribers one day! Thank you all for watching, playing along and subscribing. It's been a nostalgic experience replaying all these games I've played so long ago in my childhood. It's surprising not everyone forgot about these old games. Even more surprising is that so many people remember them! Thank you all for your support, and here's hoping that all the future let's plays will bring in new people to share memories and relive experiences.

No gungans were harmed in the making of this LP.

Pirates Almost Done!

I've finished nearly everything now, and am ready for fight Hawk! Only a few more videos left to upload, and those will be kinda boring, as they're basically running around for treasure chests. But, hey, I'll edit it down to opening them. Here's what I've done so far!

1) All the crystal hearts, save for the last on the last island, before Hawk's encounter!
2) All the fallen stars, unlocking the Wind Dancer!
3) Upgraded the Wind Dancer completely, all cannons and power ups!
4) All the Mermaid orchids, unlocking the Magical Harp, allowing Kat and the ship a limited time of invincibility!!
5) All the forts have been liberated!

I probably won't get all the chests, but that's OK, I have all the quest items and the chests above ground. Otherwise it'll be a bunch of wandering around for the buried treasure. And I don't really want to do that... But hey, almost done!

The battle with Hawk is a three part battle, no spoilers, but it's gonna be hard. Well, I don't really remember if it was when I beat it the first time, years ago, but I have a lot of power ups. After Pirates I want to try something different, stay tuned for the update on the next game!

Here's Part 48, the battle with the Lava Man, as I'm calling him, as there is no real name for him in the game. Maybe in the manual, I doubt it, but hey, he speaks in rhymes, so that's cool. Also, Old Salt, as they call him, tells the story of Dunken "the Blade", in a wonderfully illustrated cutscene!

I confused Westwood Studios, the EA branch that made Pirates: The Legend of Black Kat, the game I’m doing a playthrough of, with Surreal Software, the company that made Drakan, another game I did a playthrough of. I mixed the two up in the last blog, AND the audio commentary for part 1 of Pirates, saying that Westwood made “This is Vegas” and closed down earlier last year, when in reality Surreal did all of that. Westwood, instead, closed in 2003! So there’s that correction. Hopefully no one wrote a term paper citing my site… yeah right, no one told me I was wrong, which is why it took so long to catch the error. Well, no one will read the correction either, anyway. RANDOM NEW VEGAS VIDEOS IN THE WORKS, VOICE COMMENTARY

In other news, I'm going to attempt to record me playing random quests in Fallout New Vegas, just so there's no excuse for lack of content. Also, it seems people care more about how to get the ghoul mask in 3 than any other video on the channel, so let's gets some more views with Fallout! Also, prepare to hear my dumb voice, trying to say something interesting. I'm watching alot of Kikoskia in order to pick up on why I keep watching his LP's. I think it has something to do with his British voice. While I can't really do a good Brit voice, I hope I can be silly enough to keep people watching me wander around a desert for more than a few videos in. Let's wait and see how it turns out!

PRIMAL PROGRESS

I'm in Volca in Primal, and I think that's the last part in the game. Which means I'm almost done with it, and can focus on Pirates more. Since, it seems more people are keeping up with Pirates than Primal so far. Also, I won't have to render so many videos anymore :D

Audio Commentary?

After watching Kikoskia, ResearchIndicates and L0rdVega, and WhereDaBootz, some great LPres, I though I would try my chance at doing audio commentary for my playthroughs. I've only done this once, which was actually my first lets play on Google Videos, of Metal Gear Solid 3, which only lasted about 3 minutes, but never something like a potentially 100 videos long playthrough. I'm not really fond of my voice, being one of the reasons, the other being I might not what to say while playing. But hey, let's give it a shot. Let me know what you think, and if I should do ALL playthroughs with audio commentary from now on. I don't think I'm going to do separate uploads of both with and without... well maybe... Oh hell, it's enough of a hassle to FORCE myself to upload at least one video a week. Well, if you subscribers want it, I WILL!

Pirates: The Legend of Black Kat!

Pirates: The Legend of Black Kat, which came out in 2002, is one of now defunct EAWestwood Studio’s few games. Sadly Pirates never got the attention it needed. There was a Demo in an issue of PlayStation Magazine, and there was a release for the X-box, but it seems to be an obscure game that barely even has an entry in Wikipedia.

The game fallows the adventure of Katrina De Leon, the daughter to Marcus De Leon, the Governor of Pirate Cove, a sea port that has been taken over the ruthless Hawke, who overthrows her father and kills him in a sword fight. Dying from his wounds inflicted by Hawke, Kat’s father reveals to her that her mother Mara was a pirate! Even though he is against Kat fallowing in her mother’s footsteps, he urges her to exact his revenge, an rid the five seas of Captain Hawke. First, however, she must find her mother’s grave, and discover the truth of her mother’s life.

Since Red Wood Studio’s closing in 2003, it’s almost certain we may never see Kat in another game again, despite the games ending giving hints to another adventure for the femme-fatal buccaneer. Another obscure character will be lost in the dark forever, amongst the like of Gex.

It took a while to get this game again, being the rare/ obscure game that it is. But after a long wait, I can relive the memories. Now, let’s play, Pirates: The Legend of Black Kat!

Primal Part 41: Battle With the Undine King!

The Undine King has been horribly mutated by the toxin in the lagoon. With his mind gone, the king attacks Jen and Scree. Having been locked in the main generator room with him, they have no choice but to fight him!

This is a strange battle. You are in a cylindrical room with the boss in the middle. You are free to swim anywhere within the confined 3-dimentional environment. Scree, your AI controlled, and playable partner, is running around a platform that runs along the walls of the room. Along the walls are valves that will open the hatch in the top of the room, allowing you access to the controls that will turn the generator on. In order to turn the valves, Scree needs Jen’s help.

Between turning the valves, you as Jen have to fight the Undine King to keep him from attacking you, otherwise his attacks disrupt you as you and Scree try to turn the valves. Once you’ve attacked him to the point of unconsciousness, he’ll spend a few seconds recovering his energy, giving you time to open a few valves. Once all the valves have been opened, the toxin in the room is removed.

It seems that the toxin was regenerating the King in the recovery periods, and now that the toxin is gone, you can kill him now.

After beating the Undine King, Jen has remorse for killing Aino’s husband, as it was him Jen and Scree were to help. Aino, via psychic telepathy, assures Jen that what she did was the right thing, and that she holds no grudge against her for doing so. She tells Jen that what she killed was not her husband, Adaro, but a horrible monster that took over him. Her husband was already lost.

My Red Dead Story

Hey it’s been a while since I’ve posted on this blog. Not much going on with me, really. I’m still doing the Primal play through, but I’m sure you already knew that. I’ve been trying to keep it consistent, one video a week. I’ve been wanting to kick it up to three, like I was able to do in my Drakan play through, so I could get it out of the way. It just takes so long to get a ten minute video up on YouTube. Anyway, yay videogames.

I’ve been slowly finishing up Red Dead Redemption, and dabbling in the multiplayer. It’s kinda boring running around and picking flowers. There’s only so much fun going from gang hideout to gang hideout. The hunting is almost pointless. The multiplayer matches are ok. I do have a story for that.

I was playing “hold your own”, basically capture the flag, but with a bag, but with two flags... err, I mean bags. Anyway you have to capture three of the enemies’ bags to win. This match started out with a shoot out, as the game types usually do. I never could do well at these, but this time I had the head shot down. In a fraction of a second, I shot the hat off of my opponent, and was able to finish the second of the three off, leaving me the last survivor of the shoot out. I was able to hear the first guy I downed exclaim “Oh my god” over his mic. I couldn’t believe it.

Now the match started. Everyone was busy shooting each other, totally distracted. Now, being as humble as possible, I was kicking ass in the previous matches where killing the other team mattered, up to 10 kills and 4 deaths, being the highest scoring player of the match once! But in hold your own, only the bags matter. Everyone else, however, seemed content with shooting everyone else’s face off. This is where I made my move.

Getting on my horse, I rode over to the enemy base, took the bag, and made a beeline straight for our drop-off. BAM! My first capture. No sweat, only one guy got in my way, and I gave him a free haircut. Now for the second bag. Some player got lucky and drilled holes through my back on the way to the enemy base, but I got back in the game, got on my horse again, and got the second back home safe. This was it, I was going to win the game single handedly. I was in the enemy base. A guy came straight at me, bag, bag, dead. He was out of the way, now the bag. I loaded up, and made for our base. I was close enough to the enemy I downed that I was able to hear him alert his fellow team-mates that “he got the bag”. I was so existed! There was no one in sight. The bag was in the bag, as I came through the gate of our base, I DID IT! Boom, loading screen. What the f@ck?? John Marstin stood center screen. Single player… I had lost connection. FUCK WIFI.

Other than that, the free roam has been the main staple of multiplayer, and so far I’ve been disappointed, but that’s probably because all the people on my friends list have gone back to Modern Warfare (boo!) before anyone learned how to properly play it, not to mention the co-op add-on content coming up. I’ll probably never play free roam with another person I know, which will segue into my rant.

F@cking Modern Warfare! All anyone on my friends list EVER plays is CoD4. When ever a new game comes out, it’s exciting to see everyone play it, especially if I got the game too. I’ll even be lucky enough to get a match going with someone I “know”, but then a week later, everyone is back to CoD4, and I’m left playing the new game by myself, or with strangers. No one plays Bad Company 2 anymore. No one plays Red Dead Redemption online. It’s all CoD4. It’s depressing. I wish knew more than three people on my friends list, and I wish they played more than once a week. Damn CoD…

Oh, and Broken Steel for Fallout 3, woohoo....

Sack it to me!

I got this cute Sackboy doll from the FYE store in the mall Thursday. It was only $12, and they have four different characters in total. I went for the basic one for now, and might get two of the Sackgirl ones. It's really nice, made of really good material, and looks just like the little guy from the game. The only negative thing I can say about it is that the zipper is plastic. It would have been really cool if they made it with a metal zipper and track, and maybe even be able to unzip his stomach, but maybe that's asking too much.

I just felt like sharing this, other than that I've been going on a trophy hunt. Just today I got three trophies for the Bad Company story mode, two in God of War II, and four in Uncharted 2.

Nothing much else in the way of games, but I totally enjoyed the EA podcast this week with Mike and Jerry from Penny Arcade as guests! Go listen to it right now.

Polish subtitles are now available for videos 1-10 of the Drakan playthrough! If you don't want them there, click on the little box at the bottom right of the videos and uncheck them. Also, a 2 part video of an online match in Battlefield: Bad Company is up. Played on the RU side. The match ended in victory. I managed to get 13 kills with only 3 deaths, granted I was in the light tank for a good amount of time, it was still a good match for me! Go watch here. A match in Bad Company 2 will be up shortly.

Bad Company 2 and God of War Collection

I played the multiplayer demo of Battlefield 2: Bad Company last night, and was overwhelmed at first. They changed a lot of the controls around. Now the knife if on R2, and to change a weapon is now triangle! By the way I’m playing on PS3 if you haven’t noticed by now. Not only were the controls shuffled around, but the game just felt a lot more… heavier to me. Like the movement of the character was, well it was like you were running through knee-high water. Or pudding even, if you’re the kind of person where analogies make you hungry. I got the hang of it after a while, and found myself loving the medic kit, or class, or whatever. I love giving amateur snipers health and reviving them every five minutes because they never stay in cover. And I know if I wasn’t playing a medic, there wouldn’t be anyone to revive or give me health like I do for them! Which kinda sucks when thinking about it, but mostly everyone is a mechanic, like, 80% of the time the camera goes in to show me my killer, it’s a mechanic! Well, I got a lot of points, and a crap ton of metals, most of who’s purpose I couldn’t determine. There’s just too much stuff to read now, especially coming from 1943. But hey, it looks like all my friends might be getting it, so I won’t have to play alone that much, hopefully.

Speaking of playing alone, I’ve actually went back to single player games for a while. I’ve been playing God of War 1 from the PS3 GoW Collection. I’m at the battle with Ares, and have gone through the game on hard difficulty for the first time! The first time I beat the game I switched to easy from normal when facing the first of the Cerberus dogs. This time I just used the medusa head and broke it to pieces! I feel kinda cocky getting through the game on hard mode; it is a hard game to start off with, right? Also, I got the trophy for the thing in Hades, whatever it was, and I’ve heard that was supposed to be crazy difficult? Oh, speaking of trophies, I’m at 8 hours now so I have to beat the game again to get the 5 hour completion trophy, which should be easy just doing it again of easy, and not bothering with all the extra chests. Oh, one last thing, the trophy for maxing out all the weapons, yeah, should you be able to get it one the first play through, because I am at Ares, and I have like two or three weapons still at level 2, so… I don’t think I missed any chests, and I killed every enemy! I don’t remember not being able to max out all the weapons the first time I finished it… I don’t know. That’ll suck having to beat it a third time. I want to finish #2 before three comes out too. Oh well… All for me know, Primal is being slowly chipped at, I’ll be done… some time. Maybe before the end of spring break. I’m just so lazy when it comes to editing the damn footage. I mean I can sit there and play it for the one or two hours, but splitting it all into ten or eleven 10 minute videos is a pain, and then I have to render and upload each of them, so that’s like a whole day for three videos… I don’t remember Drakan kicking my ass like this, and that was a 99 part play through!

Battlefield Bad Company: My Best Match

I’ve been playing a lot of Battlefield Bad Company since I got it for Christmas. I really like it, and I’ve been doing quite well. In one match I managed to get 14 kills with only 4 deaths, and in another, one you’ll see on the channel soon, I got 13 kills with a meager 3 deaths. The first one I wasn’t able to capture, but it was far more impressive.

I was in the map “Over There”, the one with the wide open corn field. I was the specialist class, and stationed up in the second floor of one of the barns with the flag in the center of it. You could call it camping, but I call it defending a base. At the end of the match the barn was the last remaining base under our control, and all the enemy players were coming for it.

To prepare for the eminent onslaught, I threw down a C4 charge down to the flag, and waited for someone to attempt to take the flag. It didn’t take long for them to get there, and one right after another they were blown up by a C4 explosive charge dropping from the second floor. Oh they tried, unlading clip after clip to try to suppress my fire so they could get a guy up the ladder, but I kept nailing them. At this point I had only four hit points left, and they started sending guys up the ladder, brandishing knives right as they go to the second floor, but were immediately gunned down before they got in striking distance. They managed to spawn a few soldiers on the second floor in squads, but they were to slow to react all of them. I can’t remember, but I think we won that match, and I ended up staying through to finish on that last spawn.

It was incredible, a match I wish I captured. I did manage to take a pic of the results, but you would have to have seen the action to believe it. I was shaking with adrenaline, taking out player after player with only four hit points; surly only one shout would have taken me down! I love it when a match comes along where everything seems to come together. Damn this game is exhilarating.

Primal Behind the Scenes

Just got done capturing the 15 minute or so behind the scenes footage off of the Issue 63 OPM demo disc. I'll wait till I finish the playsthrough, or at least get through the parts the show in the videos because it could be considered spoilers, or whatever... Anyway it shows the voice actors behind the mics, development footage, a short summery of the premise and story, and a bit about the band the band that provided music for the game, 16 Volt. So look for that in the near future!

OK, I got my computer back, and everything is gone. Aww, no big deal, just a bunch of crap on there anyway. So here's the thing, I was lazy to edit some footage for Primal so I lost a bit of it in there. I may have to start over so I can recapture the footage of the part I already did back then. So yes, I think I am going to finish the game. Also, I have some new (old) games I'm planning to do playthroughs for. I want to get back into the streak I had going during Drakan; multiple videos up in a week. First I'll have to build up a back log so I can get ahead of myself and fall back on videos when I don't have time to play any further. Also, apparently lack of memory isn't a problem anymore, so I'll be able to save the videos under better quality! WEEEE! See you soon.

My computer crashed, so I haven't been able to do anything for the channel. I may even end up losing everything on there, but that's ok i guess, nothing IMORTANT on there, so hell... Maybe it'll be OK, but I feel bad getting so far behind on stuff. Eh, it's not like anyone cares. Who reads this stupid thing anyway? Primal

Does anyone care about Primal? It doesn't seem to be getting many hits on the channel, while the Ghoul mask video continues to get hits. I might just give up on Primal, I haven't been playing it at all since I started months ago. I don't really care about it, it's no Drakan I'll say that! I don't know, tell me what you think, otherwise I don't care, you guys are the reason I'm doing this.

Primal, Part 1

Primal, a game I’ve never played before, but do remember seeing in the late Official PlayStation Magazine. They even had it as a demo on the disk that came along with every issue of the magazine, along with a behind the scenes trailer. It looked interesting, dark and epic. I was just fresh off Drakan: The Ancients' Gates at the time, and was looking forward to another game of just the sort. However, I was hesitant to get the game for some reason, and only came upon it again just a few years back in a Game Stop. I purchased it based on my initial interest I had all those years ago, yet put off playing it until now. Well, strap in, because this is looking to be another long playthrough, that's sure to last over forty of even fifty installments. So... Here we go! Let's hope it's worth it :D

Next Playthrough!

OK, I think it's time for a new full playthrough. I don't really have much time to play games anymore, with college in full force, but I thought that 190 subscribers (!!!) should deserve some new content. So, I'll let you decide.

Here are the choices, and keep in mind that I have NEVER played any of these games, so I don't even know if they're good, so it's up to you. Hell, I just bought them because I'd heard of them... and they were cheap, too.

So here they are:

Primal (PS2 - adventure game?)
Killer 7 (PS2 - weird ass shooter?)
The Darkness (Ps3 - horror shooter?) I don't have this yet*

I looked through YouTube and saw little in the way of a The Darkness playthrough, maybe I'll get it just to LP it? Shouldn't be that hard to find... I don't know, until I can track down Pirates, these are some obscure games I have. So, comment with your recommendation.

New Toy!

I got my haircut Friday, which gave me an excuse to go through the mall afterwards. I picked up the Player Select Isaac Clark (Dead Space game) figure with the plasma cutter. It’s pretty awesome looking, and now seeing him in full, I can say that the character design of his suit is really wild! It’s a really detailed figure with lots of points of articulation, and if you press a button on his back, his helmet visor and the Holotech meter lights up! (The bars on the back of the suit that act as the in-game life meter, btw) It was pretty pricy, at around $17 or so, at FYE. They also had the one with the saw blade weapon. The only thing I don’t like about the figure is the flimsy nature of the plasma cutter, it’s made of some PVC plastic, and O was scared that I’d break off a thin, long part off it just taking it out if the packaging. Other than that, it knocked off one of my Shadow of the Colossus figures (Wander on Agro) and broke off the sword, which really brought me down this morning. I used super glue for a quick fix.

I’ve been playing more of Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations for the DS, and so far it’s either really easy and boring, or confusing and not clear in what it’s asking of the player. I hope it’ll get better as I get further into the game, but so far the part I hate most is the parts where you have to talk to people and collect clues around the crime scene; really boring, and not much going on.

DS Games!

I got Elite Beat Agents for free a few weeks ago. I was able to do this because there was a special deal at the Micro Center where if you bought some DS accessory on this shelf, you would get the game for free. So I bought some nice DS pack for around $17 and got the game for free essentially.

I got the game purely because the Mega64 video I saw a while back, and if it's good enough for them to do a video about, it's good enough for me to buy. I've actually never seen it in stores till then, but then again, I wasn't looking for it when it came out.

It's pretty fun, and it's so far been one of the only games to make me tear up, just because I got so into the music, and the music is awesome! Earth Wind and Fire's "September" and Queen's "I Was Born to Love You" are just beautifully-kick-ass songs!

So I was glad I picked it up, and so far I'm stuck at the ninja level on medium. I'll give it another shot when I'm not playing Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations! Which I picked up for $19.89, and ended up only paying $15 for! This game is fun, but so far slow-paced. I don't mind the text, coming right off Hotel Dusk: Room 215 (Which kicked soooo much ass!), but I wish there was more I could DO.

Wall-Mart has some old shit, like a brand new copy of Okami for $39! Wow, still $39? Damn...

I'm thinking of doing some quick Battlefield 1943 videos displaying techniques that I've learned playing all three classes of soldiers. Hopefully I'll be able to show off the maps in an effective way as well, and maybe show off a little all the while :D I'm no good at the plane so forget about that for now. I REALLY WANT to do some more gameplay videos dealing with Fallout 3, since they've proven to be the most popular on the channel, with the one about getting the Ghoul Mask well over 10,000 views (!!!!), especially when the DLC FINALLY comes out.

I will eventually do a complete play through of Black Kat, IF I ever find a complete copy. I haven't tried eBay yet, so I might give it a look.

Battlefield 1943.... ALMOST

I've been wanting a new game for a while now, maybe something online. I do have Warhawk, but that game aggravates me, and I may never play it again. Metal Gear Online is full of crap, and I may never boot that up again. So that's pretty much all I have in the way of online games.

A few weeks ago I watched the good people at 1up play the game on one of their "Game Night" events, and it looked pretty fun. I waited for it to come out, growing eager every time I looked through my game collection for something exciting to play, but because most of the games I own are slow paced, or have been beaten, I ended up not playing anything after all. I wanted to play something exciting, and maybe online, and Battlefield 1943 looked to be the right answer.

I downloaded the demo of the game, and ended up being quite good at it, ending up as the top or top three in my team in the way of points and kills! I liked the game, it was fun and exciting, just what I wanted. I really liked playing as the Japanese, getting into the character of a sneaky scout. OK, so it was final, I was going to get this game, and I might be good at it!

Eventually I found out that the game was out, and I looked through the Best Buy ads for the game, but evidently the game was only available through digital distribution, a bit of a laugh at my self fallowed. OK, so let's go buy it I said to my self. So I waited the tree days it takes Paypal to ad funds from a bank account, and I finally bought it today! So far I can hardly play it AT ALL. I started slow with the tutorial, but plunged into the online play, and here's where it got unplayable.

Every time I spawn, I have about five seconds of running until I get killed. Now this might sound like a noob whining, but here's a scenario that kept ruining the game for me, though out the whole time I played it today. First I would span, run a bit, and die. OK, I spawn again, maybe I'll go off the path to avoid running into enemies. OK, so I'll run up this hill, um... I'm back at the bottom of the hill... OK that was weird. Let's try again. OK so now we're running up the... OK now we're at the bottom again, wtf? OK, let's try this a third time! OK, no enemies up here, let's capture this base. Now where's the flag... OK, I ran right through that wall, that was... why am I AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL AGAIN?! I just ran up there three times! Wtf? Now I'm dead, and no one killed me??! The hell? Fine! Let's try this again, spawn, BOOM! Dead... OK... What? I was signed out of PlayStation Network? I turn it off and leave the room...

You see, the problem most of the time was that I was constantly jumping from forward, or backwards. Sometimes right though walls! I could never just run to a place without over shooting it, or be warped ten feet back from where I ran to! I don't know if this was only happening to me, because I saw planes STOP in mid air, only to be jettisoned forward a few seconds later. Maybe I'm getting bad lag, or maybe it's the damn wifi router crapping out. It constantly disconnects when I'm trying to do something! Right now, as I write this diatribe, the Internet notification has chimed three times! WTF is wrong with this damn router? I want to play the game I just bought, but the Internet is always crapping out, either if it's raining, where it's out completely, or just randomly disconnecting.

Anybody out there know what's wrong here? Otherwise I'm thinking of hunting for Pirates: The Legend of Black Kat... or playing something else. I guess I'll make a video about the choices......

Thus ends the playthrough of Star Wars: Episode 1, The Phantom Menace for the Playstation 1. The game was a favorite of mine during the time Episode 1 was out in theaters, and gave me hours of entertainment, filling in the gaps and back stories left open in the film. I spent countless hours exploring every nook and cranny of the somewhat flawed but expansive levels of Tatooine and Ohtogunga. Despite my hours of gameplay, I had only finished the game to the end once with the help of the debug cheat code, and invincibility turned on, but it was fun to dust off the game and play it again, and remember where everything was! I hope you'll come back for more, and please, subscribe if you've enjoyed my playthroughs so far. I plan to do more LPs of obscure games of my child hood and beyond.

I've uploaded three inFAMOUS videos to the channel, one is a side mission that I though was particularly kick ass, a little video showing an Easter egg alluding to Sly Cooper, and one which is almost a gameplay video showing me getting the Cole costume for Playstation Home. I don't know, I felt compelled to record that... anyway, I'm sure allot of you 120+ subscribers, or at least 12 of you who read this, are pissed that I've yet to continue the Star Wars: Episode 1 gameplay videos, and have been uploading these dumb videos instead. Okay, I haven't even beat it yet, BUT I plan to tomorrow, at the earliest! So look forward to maybe even three videos tomorrow to kick this playthrough in gear. If you read the description of part 23 of the Star Wars: Episode 1 gameplay videos, you should have read that I am working on a project that I have been working on for the last three years, and if you went to the blog I liked to, you would have found out that the project is Shadow of the Brick 2, the sequel to my LEGO stop motion animation spoof of Shadow of the Colossus.

Star Wars part 18

I did the second part of Tatooine in the wrong order. You see, first you're supposed to go see Jaba at the first part of the level, then that leads you to Watto's box, to make the bet. I went for Watto first, and if you see him before you got the money from Jaba, Watto tells you to get the money, but when you leave the doors to him lock shut, so you have to start the level over again. So I did... and the fight at Jaba's is alto easier then I thought when I played through the game before. I've beat the monster three times now, and only died on the first try. I'm going to try to fix part 18 and 19 by doing them again, so be patient. I'll try to get the next parts up more regularly.

Drakan 2 Trailer Up!

I just uploaded a trailer from before Drakan: The Ancients' Gates was available. It was from an old PlayStation Magazine demo a friend gave me a while back. At least, I think it's from a magazine, maybe he just got it in the mail from Sony. Anyway, it looks like it might even be from when Drakan 2 was in development, as the HUD, and some of the designs of the worlds look different. I kinda like how the life bar looked back then, all pointy and ornate-like. The compass also looks really wicked.

Another thing to consider is that this was before they came up with the subtitle for the game, as they just called it Drakan II. It's kind of weird that they would even call it Drakan II, since the first one never came out on a Sony console. Bad marketing I'd think... Well, I'm off to play more Star Wars: Episode I, I ran out of my backlog videos, so I have to get more footage.

I'm uploading part 10 of Star Wars: Episode 1, and boy was editing that video in a way that it made sense was a pain. I died so many times in that video that of the hour of raw footage I recorded, half of it was cut! Amidala kept dying, I kept dying, damn those droids! Well, I'm at Tatooine now, and have almost beat Mos Espa in the one sitting I played it last week! I'll have one more video in Theed, then it'll delve into the footage of Tatooine.

Plenty of people have added me on PSM (Darthjak) because I showed my screen name on the Fallout 3: Platinum Trophy video. Maybe over five people, now. Wow! I never thought I'd have so many people on my friends list. I'll have to do something to get a game going with some of you. Speaking of that, I tried GTA 4 online for the first time Friday. I thought I'd never play it online, but it was fun. Needless to say I died allot of times, but was pretty good at it at the same time. Maybe some of you would like to get a game going with me? New Videos Up

Part 9 of the Star Wars: Episode playthrough is up now. It's been going by slowly, mostly because I'm so lazy when it comes to uploading videos, of editing them, at the least. I finally got out of Theed, and am heading to Tatooine, my favorite part of the game. I sat down and recorded an hour of footage a few weeks ago, so I won't have to play for a while, as I can just sit on and continue editing the footage into three or four videos. I haven't even started on Tatooine, yet, but I have been trying to get back into playing the game. It's just a hassle to have to record footage and try the same part over and over again. The latest video I uploaded, part 9, I edited out fifteen minutes of me continuously dying, over and over again. I hate those destroyer droids!

I'll try to get myself to sit down and continue the game some time over the week end maybe. Thanks for watching, and I might upload some of my failed attempts at certain parts for comedic value. :P

Star Wars: Episode 1 Playthrough

I'm doing a playthrough of the PS1 game Star Wars: Episode 1 The Phantom Menace. This may be ten or less videos long, and take a few days to beat in real time. So far I've played it for three days, and have edited and uploaded three videos. So far that's one and a half hour, and I have two more hours to edit left.

This is another one of those save state games, like Drakan, where if you die you go back to the place and time you last saved. So far I have forgot to save in plenty of occasions, and have had to redo an entire level again. We're so spoiled with autosave, I think, that we don't take it for granite. I always forget to save, and this game is hard at times.

I'm almost at Tatooine, my favorite part in the game. This is going to be fun if I remember all of the secrets I found when I played the hell out of this game back in the day.

I've uploaded three parts of Katamari Damacy. Lots of people have done this already, but this gives me a reason to FINALLY play it. I'm also doing Star Wars Episode 1 on the PS1. No one has done it yet, and I'm doing it without cheats for the first time my self. I loved this game back when Episode 1 came out, and loved the Tatooine level. I think it came to a point when the game kept freezing eventually. I hope it doesn't impede my gameplay videos.

Here is a list of the games I am thinking of doing for my next gameplay. I'll have a poll for readers to vote for the game they'll want to see, but I'm still trying to get a good list first.

Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko
This might be hard to do, because every level has several goals, and only one can be completed at a time, so it'll include massive back tracking.
Primal
This is another long game, and Ive never played it before. I don't think I could do another epic game right after Drakan, maybe do a little shorter one first.
God of War: Chains of Olympus
I think I can record from the PSP. I haven't tried it yet, but I do have the cables necessary.
Pirates: The Legend of Black Kat
This is a really old PS2 game, along the vain of Drakan. It's really rare too, but if I wait till I find it, it'd be a good game to do, and no one has done an LP of it yet, i don't think.

So that's it so far. I don't have many rare games that no one has done before. I'll do another post later if I add anything. Please leave comments on suggestions, and I'll see if I can get my hands on the game. By the way I have a PS1, PS2, PS3, Game Cube, PSP, and a Sega Master System.

I beat Drakan last night, and will have up to three videos up by tonight, and will finish editing the last few videos, and have them uploaded by Friday. Here's a little present to all who read my blog and watch my videos.

Inside the zip folder are three game saves for Fallout 3 that will give you four free trophies in a couple seconds. All you have to do is get them onto your PS3 by help with a flash drive or memory card, which will show up when you look under the game section on the XMB. Then copy all three onto he HDD, and play them. From in the game all you have to do to get the trophies is go inside Agatha's house, give her the viol en. Doing this will give you the trophy for completing "Agatha's Song". If you do this for all three game saves, you'll also level up to level 20, and get a trophy for doing so with evil, neutral and good karma. Booyah! Four free trophies! All because you read my blog. No, thank you. Merry... winter holiday.

Into the Kragmore!

I had problems with Windows Movie Maker while finnishing up the first attempt of going through the Kragmore. The fotage was over an hour long so I guess that's the reason it messed up. It said that thier was an argument or somthing with the settings. I don't remember what exacly but it was along the lines of that. Anyway, I fortunately had a save before the Kragmore and did it in half the time the second time. I also found Blackwing eggs, that I was able to locate with the help of a PNG map I found on Gamefaqs. I never got more than the three you find in Surdana, which everyone knows about.

This level is the level featured in the Official Playstation Magazine Demo when it came out long ago. It featured a behind the scenes video too. Maybe the lisens are expiored and I'll upload a capture of that soon.

Some bad news here, I attempted the cave with the skelenton puzzle out side of it in a video not too long ago. I got my ass kicked a few times till I desided to try it later with better equipment. I whent back to the cave to do this weeks video, but it was sealed! So now I can't ever go back in it. Fortunately it wasn't an elemental blade, just some sword called the "Clineschmidt" blade, or somthing. Go look it up in the faq... Hold up, I looked i up and pressing the same button 3 times resets it. I'll try that.

Otherwise that's it.

Vacation!

I'm on vacation for two weeks, so no new Drakan for a while. I'll try to catch up when I get back. I was planning to do a marathon and stockpile a few playthrough videos, but I was working on my other project.

In the meantime, I was searching the Internet some time ago, and came across the chicken sword. I never found any proof, but I was wandering if anyone actually found it. So far I know it spawns randomly in the merchants inventory, and the only inclination that they have it, is you hear a chicken sound when you enter the store.

If anyone has a picture of this, I'd like to see it!

Drakan Break?

I'm late this week again. I've said that I'd do three videos a week and release them on the Friday of that week, but I keep falling behind. I'm trying to make time for my main project Shadow of the Brick 2, so that leaves little to no time for Drakan. I guess I have too much on my plate at the time. I'll try to play tonight, or maybe tomorrow. Look for three videos Monday. Maybe I'll feel guilty and do six? :)

Allot of people have been criticizing my skill at the game, particularly the parts where I'm flying Arokh. I have to tell you people, this game has clunky controls and deplorable clipping! You get stuck to the enviorment all the time. Landing Arokh is aggravating in its own. It shows the games age, but it's still a good game. And for the people still criticizing my game play in the earlier videos, like say from 10 to 20: ease up! I've got better since then. I forgot all about combos and the like till part 20 or more! I'm getting better still. This game is hard, and the parts you see me die is when I left it in because I thought the death animation was cool. For example the battle with Demog. He killed Rynn almost six or seven times till I used the spell to sploit a kill. I cut most of the second part out, that's why it was shorter and no third part was uploaded that week.

This game is longer than I remember, and seem to remember renting it twice to beat it. With only doing a half an hour a week, it might take a while to beat it, since I'm taking my time to get everything. Any one kn ow of any Black wing eggs in Ravenshold? I got a map showing three in Kragmore, which is more eggs in the entiore game that I ever got!

It's also alot harder without god mode on...

If you watched part... 35 or 36, i think, you'd notice that there's no audio. ... I think I had the wrong settings on Windows Movie Maker. I think I overrode the save before the part in the videos too, so I don't think I can redo it. The boss fight can be found elsewhere though...

I finally got around to uploading the recent session with Drakan. I'm getting to the Andrellion Islands now, and have just got the medicine bag back. This is from videos 25-27.

I'm also branching out to do some tricks and tips style videos with other games. I'm still doing Drakan, and am putting up three videos every week on Friday. It's getting good now too.

No posts for awhile. I've moved the video part to my Youtube site and am only going to do commentary on the videos here. So go to the Youtube site for the videos, come here for comments on my progress and other opinions on the game(s).

Next game will be Primal, I'll start playing it when I'm done with Drakan, which won't be for a long while actually, Drakan is a long and hard game. I've been spending all my gold in that game for potions. It'll probably be June when I get done with Drakan.

No videos yet, I haven't played Drakan for a while now, college...

22-24 will be up by Friday, I'm doing 1 3o minute session at a time and slitting it up into 3 segments every time to fit Youtube restrictions.

This is the old action RPG game I played waaay before Oblivion. It was the first Dragon riding simultor too I think. Here Rynn and the soon to come Arokh are on a mission to restore the order of the flame and reactivate the mother's eye, so they can awaken the Dragon Mother... lost you? Well watch the intro here. Also, the ol' "kill all the spiders in the bacment" quest.

Oh, and at the end, I seem to get lost... I was going to edit it out, but screw it. I'll have parts 2 and 3 up before you know it. I'm playing a half an hour a day, and started Saturday I think. Stay tuned, and tell your friends, your geek friends at least...
